Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs Cube steak
- 1 package onion soup mix (1 ounce)
- 2 cans cream of mushroom soup (10.5 ounces)
- 1 cup beef broth
- 12 oz egg noodles
- ½ cup water
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
Instructions
- Add the beef, onion soup mix, cream of mushroom soup, and beef broth to a 6-quart slow cooker. Stir to combine.
- Cover and cook on LOW for 6–8 hours or on HIGH for 3–4 hours, until the beef is tender.
- About 1 hour before serving, whisk together the cornstarch and water in a small bowl until smooth.
- Stir the cornstarch slurry into the slow cooker. Cover and continue cooking on HIGH for 1 hour, allowing the gravy to thicken.
- While the gravy is finishing, cook the egg noodles according to the package directions.
- Serve the beef and gravy over the cooked egg noodles and enjoy.
Notes
- For extra flavor, you can lightly brown the cube steaks in a skillet before adding them to the slow cooker. While this step is optional, it helps develop a richer, deeper flavor in the finished dish. Be sure to transfer any browned bits from the skillet to the slow cooker as well, as they add even more savory flavor to the gravy.
