Easy Egg Roll Soup Recipe

This Egg Roll Soup recipe brings together all the bold, savory flavors of a classic egg roll—reimagined in a warm, comforting bowl of soup. It’s quick and easy to prepare, and highly customizable with pork, chicken, or mushrooms for a vegan-friendly option.

With ingredients inspired by traditional egg rolls, it’s hard to go wrong. The combination of aromatics, vegetables, and protein creates a deeply satisfying base, while a drizzle of toasted sesame oil at the end adds that signature, irresistible finish. The result is a soup that’s savory, fresh, and packed with flavor in every spoonful.

Everything simmers together right on the stovetop and is ready in a little over 30 minutes, making it perfect for busy weeknights. The recipe can also be adapted for an Instant Pot or slow cooker with ease. For best results, browning the pork separately first helps develop extra depth before combining it with the rest of the ingredients.

If pork isn’t an option, ground or shredded chicken works beautifully as a substitute. For a meatless version, a mix of baby bella and shiitake mushrooms—or even crispy tofu—adds great texture and umami flavor. Just like traditional egg rolls, this soup is flexible enough to work with almost any protein.

For a crunchy finishing touch, store-bought crispy wonton strips make an excellent topping and mimic the texture of egg roll wrappers. Fried egg roll wrappers, toasted sliced almonds, or even no topping at all are also great options. The soup stands on its own and remains delicious either way.

With so many ways to customize it, this Egg Roll Soup easily adapts to different tastes and dietary needs. It delivers all the comfort and flavor of egg rolls in a lighter, cozier form—perfect for making it your own and enjoying again and again.
